Founded in 1988 to promote tolerance and historical perspective through the presentation of immigrant and migrant experiences in Manhattan's Lower East Side. The building that houses the museum, a preserved tenement was called home by some 7,000 people from more than 20 nations. You can view three fully restored apartments, and see the way these families lived by a guided tour. A Lower East Side walking tour is also available.
